Fishing ponds, right in the very heart ofr the Dordogne
Two Ponds, one intended totally for fishing, with an area of around 7000m², and the other, 15000m² shared between bathing and fishing, will satisfy occasional fishers, just like more established fishers.
Roach, gudgeon, carp, tench, perch, pike perch… will taunt fishers, but some that are caught will be worth a photo !!!
Without a fishing permit, fans of the sport can practise their favourite hobby in a setting which brings tranquillity.
Make sure you bring your equipment, there is no hiring of rods nor sale of bait onsite (shops close to the campsite). All types of bait can be used, apart from Canadian bait, but is not to be used excessively.
An “excellent” quality stretch of water
Since these two ponds have been created in the Dordogne, the Regional Health Agency has tested the water, and the results rank them in the “excellent water quality” category, with no question regarding the water sources which supply them from springtime, and which renew the water.
The majority of fishers adhere to the “catch and release” practice.
These measures are not imposed, but this state of mind is highly appreciated. Fishers release their catches, attempting to do this in the best conditions as possible, so that the fish is not injured, and by generally using hooks studied to not damage the fish’s mouth (for this purpose, there are hooks without a barb). It is because of this, that another more ecological idea is more and more attracting another type of fisher.
